Perth Scorchers talent Ashton Turner has been rated in the top five young BBL batsmen by Cricket Australia’s National Talent Manager Greg Chappell.
The 20-year-old all-rounder earned a Perth Scorchers contract ahead of the 2013-14 KFC T20 Big Bash League and made his club debut at the Champions League Twenty20 in India in September.
Speaking about the top five future batting superstars of Australian cricket, Chappell highlighted the young West Aussie.
“Ashton Turner has the ability to turn the game with his batting, bowling or fielding,” Chappell said.
“He’s a very good thinker of the game and performs in pressure situations.
“He’s an exciting all-round talent, even picking up Ricky Ponting last season with his handy off-spinners, but his quality with the bat will excite fans.
“Turner’s cricket intelligence is highly noticeable and will ensure he succeeds at the highest level.”
In October, Turner made 62no against England for the WA Chairman’s XI, while he smashed 51 and took 1-32 on his WA debut in the Ryobi One-Day Cup earlier in the year.
