Scorchers Watch: Agar & Maxy Tons

Perth Scorchers all-rounder Ashton Agar has warmed up for the KFC Big Bash League season with a blazing century for University in Premier Cricket on Saturday.

Agar smashed 126 from 97 balls inside two hours, including four sixes and 17 boundaries against a Melville attack which included state player Ryan Duffield.

The 23-year-old was eventually caught by Duffield off Brad Turner, but not before he’d helped his side to a surprise victory at James Oval.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Michael Klinger also posted triple figures as Mount Lawley achieved their first win of the season against Rockingham-Mandurah at Lark Hill.

Klinger made an unbeaten 101no from 127 balls to help the Hawks complete a successful run chase and find form ahead of BBL|06, with 11 boundaries and three sixes.

Sam Whiteman made 37no from 40 balls in Fremantle’s win over Bayswater-Morley at Stevens Reserve.

Cameron Bancroft was dismissed for 23 as Willetton chased down Wanneroo’s score of 271 at Burrendah Reserve.
