Cleary & Graham Earn GGXI Call-Up

Perth Scorchers pair Piepa Cleary and Heather Graham have been named in a 12-player squad for the Governor-General’s XI 50-over match against a touring South African side.

His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel selected the squad for Sunday 13 November at Sydney’s Drummoyne Oval.

The squad, led by Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars all-rounder Ellyse Perry, comprises a host of talented young cricketers, including 15-year-old Sydney Thunder Rebel WBBL|02 Regional Rookie Rachel Trenaman.

Shooting Stars all-rounder Graham has been rewarded for outstanding early season form in the Women’s National Cricket League.

Graham has scored 177 runs at 44.25 including two half-centuries, while she’s also taken two wickets and bowled economically.

Cleary, 20, has stepped up to open the bowling for the Fury in the WNCL, with a strong economy rate of 4.27 this season.

National Selector Shawn Flegler said: “The selectors are looking forward to seeing how the next generation of Australian cricketers fare against a strong South African side.

“A number of players have started the season well in WNCL, which is encouraging to see, and we hope that they continue to push for higher honours.
