Perth Scorchers all-rounder Mitch Marsh blasted a half-century and Ian Bell made runs on his return to University in Sunday’s Premier Cricket T20 finals around Perth.
Marsh turned out for Fremantle who clinched a spot in the Grand Final with wins over Joondalup and Claremont-Nedlands at Iluka Sports Complex.
Marsh crunched 55 from 32 balls in a dominant display in the morning game, alongside Sam Whiteman (50 from 24).
The all-rounder also bowled four overs, finishing with 0-23 from four overs, while Jhye Richardson had more success, taking 2-29 from four overs.
Ashton Turner was the star all day, taking 2-29 in the morning, before taking three wickets in the afternoon against Claremont-Nedlands and top scoring with 33.
Marsh took 2-23 in the afternoon game and only managed 15 from 22 balls, while Richardson took another wicket and made 10no.
More than a decade after his last appearance for Uni, Englishman Ian Bell stepped out for the Students and made 49 from 39 balls in their quarter-final win over Willetton in the morning game at Sutherlands Park.
Ashton Agar blasted 54 from 39 balls in the quarter, while Uni were beaten by Gosnells in the semi-final.
