Scorchers Fans In For Blockbuster BBL|14

A standalone season-opener at Optus Stadium headlines the lengthy list of blockbusters Perth Scorchers Members and fans are set to enjoy during the upcoming KFC Big Bash League season.

As revealed in the League’s BBL|14 fixture announcement this morning, the Scorchers will play at least six prime time matches throughout the campaign.

The first of those contests is at home on Sunday 15 December (4:15PM, WA time), when Perth kick-starts the season against Melbourne Stars.

Another Boxing Day showdown at The Furnace looms (6:15PM, WA time), with the Scorchers and reigning champions Brisbane Heat to resume their burgeoning rivalry on one of the tournament’s biggest stages.

No fewer than 42,226 fans turned up for last year’s Boxing Day Bash, while plenty more supporters will recall the remarkable Final between Perth and Brisbane in BBL|12.

The Orange Army can launch into the first weekend of 2025 with Friday night cricket (3 January, 6:15PM, WA time) against former Scorcher Cameron Bancroft’s Sydney Thunder.

And they won’t have to wait long until the five-time champions’ next home game against Melbourne Renegades on Tuesday 7 January (4:15PM, WA time) – a match-up that has produced several entertaining contests in recent years.

A clash versus Adelaide Strikers under Saturday night lights (18 January, 5:15PM, WA time) rounds out the Scorchers’ regular season campaign.

Perth’s away games, meanwhile, have been grouped into three blocks, limiting the strain of regular cross-country travel.

Pre-Christmas, Adam Voges’ men play Hobart Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena (Saturday 21 December, 1PM, WA time) and the Renegades at Marvel Stadium (Monday 23 December, 4:15PM, WA time).

They will then venture to Adelaide Oval with their sights firmly set on winning the Jason Gillespie Trophy and ruining the Strikers’ New Year’s Eve party (4:45PM, WA time).

Perth Scorchers’ regular season road commitments end in Sydney, where Sydney Sixers (SCG, Saturday 11 January, 1:45PM, WA time), and the Thunder (ENGIE Stadium, Monday 13 January, 4:30PM, WA time) await.

The KFC BBL|14 Finals series will feature four matches from Tuesday 21 January, culminating in the Final on Monday 27 January – a national public holiday that falls within the school holidays. Venues for all finals will be determined by ladder positions and finals results.

Comments attributable to interim Perth Scorchers General Manager Jess Keily:

“Launching the season against the Stars at Optus Stadium is a privilege for us, and we’re confident our passionate Members and fans will turn out in force to mark the occasion.

“We’re rapt to host again on Boxing Day, which has become the centrepiece of our season. The atmosphere is always incredible, and we’re working hard to ensure the match-day experience grows, year-on-year.

“Another big win is the fact three of our home games fall on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, compared to one weekend match last season.

“Fans will also benefit from our TV footprint, with six games scheduled in prime-time and the majority broadcast on free-to-air in WA-friendly timeslots.”

Comments attributable to Perth Scorchers General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams, Kade Harvey:

“The guys love playing in front of big crowds, so hosting marquee games like the season-opener and Boxing Day will certainly get them up and about.

"Being in Perth with friends and family for Christmas is valued by our group and we look forward to being home during that period.

“We’re also pleased to have just three interstate trips during the regular season, which worked quite well for us last year.
