Another Two Years For Exciting Quick Ainsworth

Perth Scorchers have finalised a two-year contract extension for one of Australia’s most exciting young bowlers, securing Chloe Ainsworth until at least the end of WBBL|12.

The 19-year-old quick, who was already signed for the upcoming Weber WBBL|10 season, made an enormous impression during her maiden campaign in orange last year.

Armed with pace and a dangerous out-swinger, Ainsworth took 15 wickets at 19.66 from 13 games and often shouldered the responsibility of bowling with fielding restrictions in place.

This impressive versatility and composure saw her named by the League’s Head Coaches in the star-studded WBBL|09 Team of the Tournament alongside teammates Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine and Amy Edgar.

Ainsworth is also among the Scorchers’ best outfielders and has talent with the bat, as displayed for WA in February when she compiled an unbeaten 36 from 47 balls against eventual Women’s National Cricket League champions Tasmania.

The Melville product impressed for WA and Australian pathway teams before earning her first WA and Perth Scorchers contracts in 2023-24.

Reflecting on the two-year contract extension, Ainsworth said:

"My first season with the Scorchers was an awesome experience, and I was glad to be able to contribute to the team.

"Our coaches and my teammates have been amazing in helping me develop my game. I feel so lucky to be in team that backs me in so early in my career and I love playing here.

"I’ve watched so much cricket at the WACA growing up. Being out there wearing Scorchers colours for another two years after WBBL|10 is pretty special and I'm excited to see if we can bring home some trophies in the next few seasons."
