Aboriginal Shirt Auction Now Live

The Perth Scorchers Aboriginal Shirt Auction is now live featuring player-signed Aboriginal shirts from the Weber Women’s Big Bash League and KFC Big Bash League.

All Perth Scorchers WBBL|10 and BBL|14 squad members have signed their Aboriginal playing shirts, which were issued ahead of our annual Aboriginal matches.

The playing shirts were designed by Nyoongar artist Linda Loo who is self-taught and has strong connections to the Ballardong and Whadjuk clans.

A colourful design which incorporates the Perth Scorchers iconic orange colouring and includes references to the grounds we walk and play upon here in Boorloo (Perth).

At the centre of the shirt is a swan representing the Boorloo area, surrounded by lines and circles demonstrating the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) and lakes in the region.

The swan is surrounded by u-shapes, which represent players gathering in a barefoot circle before a match to acknowledge the traditional owners, respect the Boodja (country), and connect with Aboriginal culture.

Other elements of the intricate design tell the story of travel, the WACA Ground Improvement Project and WA’s storied cricket history.

All proceeds raised from the Aboriginal Shirt Auction will go towards to the WA Cricket Foundation, whose mission is all about creating improved social outcomes through the vehicle of cricket.

Championing three pillars, Aboriginal Cricket, People with a Disability and Young Women & Girls, the Foundation supports communities and people around the state.

Through tailored programs across the three pillars, the WA Cricket Foundation look to create safe and welcoming environments which promote healthy living with an emphasis on connecting likeminded people.

The auction will close on Monday January 6 at 9pm AWST, to place a bid click here.
