Pace bowler Bryce Jackson has rejoined Perth Scorchers’ squad for the remainder of the KFC BBL|14 season and could make his BBL debut if selected against Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium tomorrow.
Quick Returns, Star Set For Surgery
The Albany product was available as a Local Replacement Player prior to allrounder Mitch Marsh’s return last week, having impressed in limited overs cricket for WA.
Jackson replaces Jhye Richardson, who has elected to have season-ending surgery this week to stabilise his right shoulder following a dislocation in late November.
Richardson made the decision following extensive consultation with Cricket Australia and medical specialists, and hopes to be available to play by next summer.
Talented 19-year-old quick Mahli Beardman is another in the frame for his first BBL match, offering the team pace, skill and versatility.
Meanwhile, spearhead Lance Morris will return after being rested against Sydney Sixers last night, in line with Cricket Australia’s workload management plan.
Perth needs to win its last two games against the Thunder and Adelaide Strikers (18 January, Optus Stadium) and hope for favourable results elsewhere to qualify for finals.
Perth Scorchers squad for Game 9: Ashton Turner ©, Ashton Agar, Finn Allen (New Zealand), Mahli Beardman, Jason Behrendorff, Cooper Connolly, Sam Fanning, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Matthew Hurst (England), Bryce Jackson (Local Replacement Player), Lance Morris, Matthew Spoors, Andrew Tye.
