Perth Scorchers Achieve Record-Breaking Season

Perth Scorchers BBL|14 season has forged new ground with Members and fans, achieving record audiences, attendances and digital engagement.

A season filled with close finishes, brilliant individual performances and a fired-up Furnace brought unprecedented exposure for the Club, as the Orange Army showed up in record numbers. 

The Scorchers’ signature themed matches proved a major drawcard once again, attracting a total of 192,534 fans at Optus Stadium across the Wild West Match, Boxing Day Bash, Aboriginal Match, Bushfire Awareness Match and Pride Match.  

The Scorchers finished the home and away season with an average home crowd of 38,505 from five matches, well above the League average of 22,433 and +8% on last Scorchers’ season. 

Members and fans broke the record for the largest ever Scorchers crowd in a home and away season on Friday 3 January, with 46,471 filling The Furnace for the Club’s Aboriginal Match.  

It was also the League’s biggest crowd since the Scorchers’ victorious BBL|12 Final at Optus Stadium. 

Membership at WA Cricket surged by +16%, growing from 18,705 members last season to 21,711 this season, highlighting the growing passion for cricket and the appeal of our membership offerings.

The Scorchers’ BBL|14 campaign was watched by an average audience of 675,000 viewers per game, an increase of more than +12% on last season, with audiences in metro Perth up a whopping +30%. 

Simulcast matches (broadcast on Seven, Foxtel, 7plus and Kayo Sports) drew average audiences of 834,000 per game in that period. 

Scorcher’s highest single match viewership was the Big Bash season opener on Sunday 15 December, which drew over a million viewers (1,019,298), the highest Home and Away audience for Perth since BBL|08.

The highest-rating Perth Scorchers match was the season-opening victory over Melbourne Stars at Optus Stadium, which attracted a combined average audience of one million viewers across Seven, 7plus and Foxtel and Kayo Sports. 

Fans also flocked to and interacted with Perth Scorchers’ digital channels in record numbers, with more than 745,871 accounts now following the Scorchers across Instagram, Facebook and X. 

Digital engagement grew by a massive +92% during the Club’s BBL|14 campaign, with average interactions per post increasing by more than +68%.
