The Perth Scorchers Aboriginal Shirt Auction has raised a tremendous $28,244.00, adding to the auction’s impressive record over the last four years.
Aboriginal Shirt Auction Raises Incredible Amount
All Weber Women’s Big Bash League and KFC Big Bash League players from the 2024-25 season signed their Aboriginal playing shirts, designed by Nyoongar artist Linda Loo.
The shirts feature an intricate design representing the Boorloo and Derbal Yerrigan areas as well as Boodja Country and additional design elements tell of travel, the WACA Ground Improvement Project and the state’s storied history.
The highest priced items were signed shirts belonged to our fearless New Zealand captain, Sophie Devine, which sold for $2,500.00 and rising star Cooper Connolly’s shirt with the winning bid of $2,000.00.
The item which garnered the most attention was the match-worn shirt of opening batter Finn Allen, which received a remarkable 34 bids.
All proceeds from the auction will go to the WA Cricket Foundation and the mission of creating positive social impacts and connecting communities through cricket.
WA Cricket Foundation Head of Philanthropy Carolyn Turner said the resounding success from the Aboriginal Shirt Auction shows the appetite for Scorchers Players, Members and fans to be a part of building a better tomorrow.
“The Aboriginal Shirt Auction is growing every year, and this season was no exception,” Turner said.
“It is incredible to see the continued support from everyone involved in raising such vital funding to help the Foundation continue to drive positive social outcomes through cricket.
“The WA Cricket Foundation continues to drive change and provide opportunities in areas and social grounds that need them most.”
