Becky Grundy will guide the Perth Scorchers and WA Women’s teams until at least the end of the 2026-27 domestic campaign, signing on as Head Coach for another two seasons.
Grundy signs on for another two years
Grundy first took the reins ahead of WBBL|09 when appointed as the successor to current Australian Women's Head Coach Shelley Nistchke.
Perth qualified for finals during Grundy's maiden campaign in charge and were competitive throughout WBBL|10, highlighted by a gripping two-run win at the WACA Ground against eventual champions Melbourne Renegades.
The former England international has been heralded for her desire and ability to build meaningful relationships with players and staff, who have embraced her vision for the Scorchers and WA programs.
She also played a significant role in Perth's first WBBL championship as a senior assistant to Nistchke, having played for the Club in WBBL|02.
Grundy’s impressive credentials have been recognised by Cricket Australia, with the 34-year-old poised to coach Australia A in a multi-format series against England A which begins in Sydney on Wednesday.
Reflecting on her contract extension, Grundy said:
“I am excited to continue as Head Coach for another two years, working with a really driven and talented group of players and staff at WA and the Scorchers.
“I have really enjoyed my time here so far, and I am very glad WA Cricket has shown the faith in me.
“We’ve worked really hard to create a team environment where our athletes can thrive, and I’m looking forward to continuing on that journey for the next couple of years.
“I know everyone within the playing group and staff are so determined to achieve team success, and I am really confident that success is just around the corner for us.”
WA Cricket General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams, Kade Harvey said:
“Becky has made a significant impact in five seasons as Head Coach of WA and the two seasons at the helm of Perth Scorchers, and we’re confident both teams will continue to grow under her guidance.
“Since joining WA Cricket, Becky has spent a lot of time building strong relationships with staff and players who value and respect the way she operates.
“Becky also reads and understands the game well and has a clear and ambitious vision for our elite women’s program.
“It is a great opportunity for Becky to be Head Coach of Australia A next month, and we look forward to her leading both WA and the Scorchers for the next two years.”
