Themed Rounds Enhance Scorching MBBL Summer

Find out what we’ll be celebrating at each home game across the KFC BBL|13 season.

Perth Scorchers will play five home games at Optus Stadium during the regular MBBL season, with each match to feature immersive themed experiences for those in The Furnace.

The Scorchers’ first home game against Hobart Hurricanes on Wednesday 20 December is our Community & Champions Welcome Match.

Community cricket is a staple of the perfect Australian summer, arming the stars of tomorrow with the tools to one day thrive on the national stage.

We’ll be celebrating all members of our grassroots community – the Clubs, volunteers, coaches, umpires, participants, and everybody in between.

This contest is also the first opportunity for the Orange Army to see the Scorchers on home soil since last season’s remarkable MBBL Final triumph over Brisbane Heat.

Next up is a showdown with Melbourne Renegades on Boxing Day, when our players will set their sights on celebrating Christmas with a bang.

This year’s showpiece features a renowned Australian artist (soon to be announced), who will perform under Optus Stadium's famous lights during the innings break.

It will be the ninth time the Scorchers have played on Boxing Day, marking the event as a key date on the Club’s calendar.

Our Aboriginal Match against Adelaide Strikers on 3 January is enormously significant, given WA Cricket’s strong and unwavering commitment to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We will celebrate the history and significance of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) and Boorloo (Perth) area as taught by the traditional land owners, the Whadjuk people of the Nyoongar nation.

On field, players will proudly wear the Scorchers’ new Aboriginal playing shirt designed by artist Linda Loo, a Nyoongar woman born in Corrigin who is connected to the Balladong and Whadjuk clans.

More information about Linda’s design can be found here.

The Club’s Retro Match against Brisbane Heat on 13 January tells the story of our inspirational players and teams, 10 years on from the Scorchers' first MBBL title.

Who could forget names such as Brad Hogg, Craig Simmons and Simon Katich? Why not throw in current men’s Head Coach Adam Voges and Scorchers superstar Mitchell Marsh, both of whom played important roles when Perth lifted the trophy aloft in MBBL|03.

And have you ever heard of a guy named Pat Cummins?

We will then round out the regular season with our annual Pride match against fierce rivals Sydney Sixers on 16 January.

The fixture – which will see Optus Stadium flooded in rainbow colours – is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, reinforcing the Scorchers’ commitment to ensuring cricket is a sport that welcomes all.

So wear your brightest rainbow colours and cheer on the home side as they aim to finish the home-and-away campaign in style!
