Star Allrounder Hardie recommits for next three seasons

Star allrounder Aaron Hardie has recommitted his future to Perth Scorchers, signing a three-year contract extension until the end of the KFC BBL|17 season.

Called up for his Scorchers debut as a 20-year-old in BBL|08 as a highly touted allrounder with an ability to impact the game with both bat and ball, Hardie is now well established among the competition’s most destructive players.

The 26-year-old became a regular fixture in the Scorchers setup during a breakout tournament in BBL|12 and has quickly become one of the Club’s key on-field leaders.

The powerful right-hander was promoted to number three during title-winning campaign and finished as the competition’s leading run-scorer with 460 runs at 41.81. His run tally remains the most-ever by a Scorcher in a single season.

A regular contributor at tactical and planning meetings for Perth, Hardie’s leadership took another step during the Scorchers BBL|13 campaign, when he took over the captaincy duties when regular skipper Ashton Turner was unavailable due to injury.

His talents have also been recognised at International level, making his debut in both white-ball formats for Australia during a tour of South Africa in 2023 and now becoming a regular member of Australia’s white ball setup.

Experiences playing in the Vitality Blast and Major League Cricket over the past 12 months have further enhanced his budding reputation, with the Punjab Kings recently purchasing the allrounder in the Indian Premier League auction.

His contract extension follows recent announcements of multi-year deals for decorated skipper Ashton Turner (BBL|18), strike bowler Lance Morris (BBL|16) and quick Jhye Richardson (BBL|16).

Reflecting on recommitting to the Scorchers, Hardie said:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be able to sign on for the next three seasons with the Scorchers. I have really enjoyed my time at the Club so far, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities the Scorchers have given me.

“Our playing group is incredibly close both on and off the field, we’ve built really strong relationships and a team culture which has enabled us to have a lot of success over the Club’s history.

“It’s exciting to see a group of us (Jhye, AT, Finn, Lance, and Ingo) all signed up for a number of years and I think having a core group of senior players together for the next few seasons will hold us in really good stead.

“I am excited to see what the future holds for this group, and I’m confident that more success is just around the corner.
